Welcome to the Northeast Stream Temperature Database. This website is a portal for viewing, downloading, uploading, and managing stream temperature data across the northeastern U.S. This database is part of the EcoSHEDS project.
The Northeast Stream Temperature Database is the primary data source for calibrating a regional stream temperature model, which predicts daily mean water temperature at the catchment scale based on geospatial charactistics (e.g. land use) and climate data (e.g. air temperature and precipitation). Documentation about the model is available here. Results from this model can be viewed in the Interactive Catchment Explorer.
The database allows users to choose whether their data should be publically available. All public datasets can be accessed through the Public Data Viewer. However, some datasets are not public due to data privacy issues, and thus not accessible on the Public Data Viewer. It is up to each agency or group that contributes to the database to make their data publically available.
User accounts are required to upload and manage data in the database. Accounts are currently available by request only. Please use visit the Contact Us page to request an account if you have data that you would like to contribute.
